This is a prototype, and is not complete. There may be bugs, features missing etc. It is purely a proof of concept. Please use your keyboard to navigate the game.

The Wild is a virtual pet game in which you care for and play with a creature of your choice. Developed using Macromedia Flash for Flash Lite the aim is to keep your creature alive for as long as possible. When you have had enough for one day, you can save your progress online. However, when you save your progress, your creature is released back into "the Wild" where it might encounter other creatures and be attacked. Leaving your creature in the Wild for too long will also mean that it will die through lack of care and feeding (a creature will typically last just two days without care).

There are a few things to watch out for when caring for your creature, the following in game icons will allow you to care for and monitor your creature:

  • The info icon will bring up the stats screen which displays your creatures age, and vitals. Make sure you check this screen as regularly as possible. You can navigate between the bottom and top halves of this screen with the up and down keys.
  • Feeding your creature will increase its health little by little and sustain it for longer by reducing hunger.
  • Playing a game with your creature will make it happier and reduce boredom. If it wins, it will be twice as happy than if you win. Playing a game will also increase its strength (which in turn makes it more hungry in the long run!).
  • Washing your creature will increase its health, but it also increases boredom.
  • Medicating your creature will boost its health very quickly, but it will also lower its happiness.
  • Making your creature study will increase its intelligence, an intelligent creature will deal better with boredom when you leave it alone.
  • This icon will let you quit and save your creature.
  • During play, the up and down keys will alter the temperature of the room, be sure to check the info screen to see if the creature is happy with the current temperature (the creature will occaisionally decide it wants a different temperature, so be sure to check often). If a creature isn't happy with the temperature, its health and happiness will drop.

Your creature's health is the most important single factor, it is affected by all of the other stats. If the health drops to 0, your creature will die. If you don't download your creature it will slowly lose health, 3 days in "the Wild" will kill a perfectly healthy creature.
