I'm trying not to go too off-topic with these PSP related posts, but it ties in mobile with Flash so that fits in quite nicely with the majority of my more recent posts.
The first bit of news is that the popular animation and community site Newgrounds has set up a Flash PSP Portal, which looks very nice. You can access it at http://www.newgrounds.com/psp, it will sniff your browser so on a desktop you'll go through to an info page about the portal.
More PSP news: The PSP should come with this tool. PSP Xploder Movie Player and Media Center PC allows you to manage and convert content for use with the PSP, so music, videos etc. I see the PSP as one of the leading entertainment convergence devices just lagging behind XBox just ahead of Smartphones. One interesting feature is that your PSP can subscribe to RSS feeds to tell you when new media is available. I spent some time yesterday hooking up the XBox (1) to the WiFi network so that I could stream music and movies in from the PC - all in all it was very seamless with Windows shared folders (I imagine Mac would work just as well), album icons were auto generated by XBox Media Center and it played back any video format I threw at it, it even went online and gave a 5 day weather forcast and the quintessential Matrix screensaver is in there to boot
. Still hoping on the day when everything works as well as this so we can finally stop having to duplicate our content across devices, not worry about which device we can use for what and just enjoy the stuff instead.
Finally I'd like to leave you with an interesting new game soon to be released by ATARI called HOT PXL, which sees you guide a semi-skater semi-nerd through 200 challenging micro-games in a visually intriguing style. There's a real lack of original games and it's interesting to see people are using the PSP's unique hardware to do more than just spin polys. More about the game here.
